A prayer for those who work with computers
Dear God, please make my computer behave.
Let the battery charge and the orange light always be green.
Please make 'cut and paste' work when I am doing my dissertation,
And always make sure the floppy disk saves everything!
But most of all, dear Lord, I ask that I will not let the computer rule me.
You have provided alternatives (that are usually more reliable) for everything.
You created us to communicate with each other,
Not to sit endlessly at screens with aching eyes.
Please restrain me from spending loads of money
on things that look useful but which I do not need.
Let me look at the real needs of the world, not at
making profits for computer magnates.
My computer is useful but not essential,
So, if all fails on the computer front, let me praise your name
(it will be a good thing in the long run).
